It all started when one user, in response to the debates around singer Sonu Nigam's latest statements about "forced religiousness," came up with the hashtag #MileSurMeraTumhara to appeal for unity.
Anyone growing up in the 80s and 90s would know about the iconic musical number going by the same name that used to be a staple on television channels like Doordarshan.Instead of ranting on Twitter, all #sonunigam hd 2 do ws ask d mosque if he cud record d azaan 4 them in his sweet voice#Milesurmeratumhara

The hashtag quickly started trending as thousands of Indians started using it as a battle cry for national integration in the spirit of the song.
